In memory of Chris Albin – 6.12.65 – 9.8.23
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of the founder and owner of our firm, Mr Chris Albin.
Chris passed away in August after a short illness.
Chris had many roles in life – he was a husband, father, brother and a friend. At Albin and Co we knew him as ‘boss’ although to those of us who had worked for him for many years, he was also our friend. Those close to him including all of his colleagues at the office have been hugely affected by his death.
It is exceptionally challenging to run a Legal Aid firm. However, running Albin and Co was something Chris did, proudly, for 16 years. During those years, he persevered with providing a service to some of the most vulnerable people in society.
He was an exceptional Criminal Defence solicitor, respected by all who worked with him, including his loyal clients. Chris always aimed to provide a good quality, caring, legal service, and often put people above profit. He instilled these values in all who worked for him.
Despite the stresses of this role, Chris was able to remain calm, and retain his brilliant sense of humour even in difficult times. Chris was charming and charismatic. He was also always kind and courteous, to both staff, other professionals and clients alike.
Chris liked contented employees and in return was able to inspire respect and loyalty from his staff. He allowed us to work part time and flexibly, appreciating the importance of family commitments. He always encouraged us to take up opportunities to do work that we were interested in and to develop our careers. He was very proud of the firm he had created and the people who worked for him.
Chris was an eternal optimist, and faced his challenges with courage and cheerfulness.
We will all remember him for his utter resilience in the face of adversity, his bravery and, of course, his kindness and compassion Most of all, we will remember him as our boss, and at this he was the best. As a boss, he is irreplaceable and all of us at Albin and Co will miss him hugely.
