How we can help
Our Family Law solicitor Sally Wood is a trained Family mediator and can offer a mediation service in respect of both financial and children related issues where appropriate.
As a trained mediator Sally fully understands and can explain to you the benefits of mediation. Whilst mediation is not for everyone, we can help you decide whether it might provide the best course of action for you.
It is now a requirement in most cases to attend a MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting) before commencing court proceedings in relation to children or finances (unless there has been domestic violence or in cases of bankruptcy). The purpose of the MIAM is to provide further information about mediation before court proceedings are considered. If the mediator is satisfied that mediation is not appropriate in your case or has been attempted but has broken down, he/she will provide you with a signed form confirming this (or will countersign a court application) This would need to be submitted with your court application to show the court that the MIAM requirement has been met (unless one of the exemptions applies).
Sally can provide you with further information on MIAM including referring you to an appropriate mediator for the purpose of the MIAM.
